Drawing the Figure

This workshop will! focus on how to begin a strong foudation in order to create a beautiful drawing of the human figure. We will look at structure, measurement methods, negative space and techniques to strengthen our drawing and develop confidence when developing a sketch. We will also look at quality of line and ink or watercolor gestures. Our goal is for you to walk away with new tips and one or more finished pieces and lots of beautiful studies.

My personal style is a contemporary approach to line study and gesture - it’s what comes naturally to me, but I encourage my students to experiment and work in developing their own style.

OUTLINE and WHAT YOU NEED:

Pencil set, 9x12 or 11x14 Drawing Pad, kneaded eraser, small round synthetic brush, paper blender, charcoal pencil or stick, ink pens, ink and/or Watercolor kit.

Optional supplies: thin sketch paper such as bond paper for initial drawings, masking tape, charcoal, pens, color pencils.
