Urban Sketching in Kyoto

This workshop is all about Sketching! You’ll learn how to begin a drawing, how to create a compelling composition, how to see and draw negative space, to capture perspective, mood, action and so much more.. Our goal is for you to walk away with a beautiful finished piece and lots of beautiful sketches.

My personal style is a contemporary approach to line study and gesture - it’s what comes naturally to me, but I encourage my students to experiment and work in developing their own style.

OUTLINE and WHAT YOU NEED:

Materials: - The urban sketcher kit which consists of a watercolor or mixed media sketchbook, pencil or mechanical pencil, ink pens, watercolors and/or color pencils, eraser, watercolor brushes (round and flat), water container and towel or paper towels.

Optional supplies: thin sketch paper such as bond paper for initial drawings, masking tape, Prospekt proportional divider. charcoal or graphite powder.
